Enhance Your Wellbeing Through Yoga & Mindful Meditation
Discover the Transformative Power of Yoga and Meditation
At a pivotal point in my life, I discovered the profound impact of a consistent yoga practice. Walking into a hot yoga studio during a challenging transition, I found a refuge that helped me shift from overthinking to feeling grounded in my body. This practice became a vital part of my routine, eventually leading me to complete 100-hour and 200-hour teacher trainings with Amazing Yoga in Tulum, Mexico, and Nosara, Costa Rica.
My journey further deepened when I explored the connection between psychology and meditation. An email about a Level I iRest® Yoga Nidra meditation training caught my interest, offering continuing education credits. Despite initial doubts about my meditation abilities, I enrolled and was amazed by the transformative effects of regular practice. This experience resonated deeply, leading me to complete the certification process and become a certified iRest® Yoga Nidra meditation teacher, feeling whole for the first time in my life.
My commitment to personal growth and helping others has driven me to further my education. I have completed a 300-hour yoga teacher training with My Vinyasa Practice, achieving Yoga Alliance accreditation as an RYT-500. Additionally, I am a Reiki Master and a certified Breathe to Heal facilitator. Through these diverse practices, I am dedicated to guiding others on their paths to self-discovery, healing, and transformation.
Questions & Answers
Why yoga and meditation?
I guess I can’t just say, “because it’s awesome!” Truly though, these practices have changed my life, and I love to share them! Luckily, researchers have become more interested in these practices over the last couple of decades, so there is now evidence showing how beneficial yoga and meditation/mindfulness can be in a variety of ways. The physical practice of yoga can improve strength, balance, and flexibility, improve heart health, and numerous studies show yoga’s benefits in arthritis, osteopenia, balance issues, oncology, women’s health, chronic pain and other specialties. Meditation has been shown to reduce stress, ease anxiety, promote emotional health, enhance self-awareness, increase attention span, generate kindness, improve sleep, help control pain, and decrease blood pressure.
Where can I take your yoga and meditation classes?
I teach a hot power yoga class on Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM and a monthly iRest® Yoga Nidra class the first Sunday of the month at 6:30 PM at Ignite Yoga in Wexford, PA. I also teach workshops there occasionally. If you are interested in corporate wellness packages or events involving yoga and/or meditation, please contact me, and we can design something to meet your needs.
What is iRest®?
iRest® Yoga Nidra is a comprehensive, engaging 10 step meditation protocol created by psychologist and yogi, Dr. Richard Miller. While based on ancient yogic teachings, it is easily accessible in modern day life. It can be practiced by individuals with a lifelong meditation practice, as well as those just curious about meditation. Some benefits of iRest® include decreased stress, anxiety, fear, and depression; improved sleep and decreased insomnia; an ability to manage chronic and acute pain; healthier interpersonal relations; heightened energy levels; improved sense of control; more confidence and joy in daily life; and a greater sense of peace and well-being.
As a psychologist, I love that the practice of iRest® is supported by a strong evidence base. In fact, the research base supporting the use of this practice is so strong, that it has been adopted by the VA system and is utilized in VA hospitals across the US. As a yogi and psychologist, I love the marriage of traditional yogic practices and Western psychology that Dr. Miller has so carefully and thoughtfully created. As a human being, I love that this practice takes me out of my thinking mind and into my innate ground of Being and wholeness. Since finding this practice, I have loved more, cried more, felt more, laughed more, opened more…all while feeling connected to my essential wholeness in a way that I had never experienced. I love to say that it’s amazing what can happen in 35 minutes with your eyes closed…I’d be honored to help you feel it for yourself
